An
Exercise in Rocketry at Vanderbilt
Dyer Observatory
Fins and Launch Lug
This size and placement makes the rocket suprisingly
stable. We had rockets reaching an elevation or 200'
and landing within a few feet of the launch pad. In fact, be careful that
everyone involved is watching
the rocket's trajectory so that it does
not hit them on the head.

The launch lug was made from a section of a
Bic pen. This step/part is not necessary.
Most of our rockets did well without it.
