This year Dyer Observatory is joining with Vanderbilt’s Center for Latin American Studies to offer a workshop in archeoastronomy, the study of the astronomical practices, celestial lore, mythologies, religions and world-views of ancient cultures. Participants will hear from Vanderbilt faculty and graduate students and distinguished guest speakers about Mayan and Incan archaeoastronomy with particular focus on the groups’ mathematical and calendrical systems, archaeology, religious beliefs and social practices.
