NIGHT TIME

Open House Telescope Nights - Second Friday of every month from March through November (except April 2009).  Free.  Reservations are not required. The Dyer telescopes will be open for viewing.  If cloudy we will be open for "ask an astronomer" and observatory tours.  Start times vary -- please see our calendar for details go to calendar.

 

Exploration Nights – special lectures and programs geared for teens and adults, and “Kids Exploration Nights” for children ages 6-12. These events typically feature a speaker followed by a telescope viewing, weather permitting.  Exploration Nights are cancelled only in the case of severe weather.  Reservations are required.  Cost is $5 per person or $10 per family.  Nights are March 20 (sold out), April 4, May 22 (waitlist only), August 4, September 18, and November 6.  For additional information please go to calendar or to make reservations, please email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. DAY TIME

Observatory grounds – are open March through November, Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for self-guided tours of the Star Chamber. However, there are times when the gate may be closed or the Observatory is being used for a special event.  If you are planning a day time visit, please call ahead, 615-373-4897, to ensure that the Observatory grounds are open for visitors.  For additional information, please go to Star Chamber. 
Please note as of July 31, the observatory and grounds will be closed on Mondays.

The Observatory building is open for school fireld trips or community tours with reservations.
