Music At Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory
It all started with a "Wouldn't this be a wonderful place to have a concert!" from Dyer Observatory's director, Dr. Rick Chappell. Standing on the plaza in front of the incredible 1950's building with the giant dome, (which houses the Seyfert Telescope) and looking out at the surrounding oak and hickory forest, one can easily get a sense of how special this place would be for listening to talented musicians. On perhaps the tallest hilltop in Nashville, the concerts are scheduled around glorious sunsets. After the performance, when the stars begin to shine, the telescope is opened for visitors to cap their night with views of celestial wonders.

Bring blankets, lawn chairs, food and drink. Make yourself comfortable in the observatory's front lawn. Relax and prepare for a fabulous evening of sunset, music, and stars.

Music On The Mountain
Partnering with the Blair School Of Music, this series of free concerts are called "Music On The Mountain". Each concert has a different theme and has run from Appalachian Music to Big Band and Swing. The circle drive makes a wonderful dance stage for those so inclined. Parking for these events are most often accomodated by a generous neighbor's parking lot near the intersection of Granny White Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard. From there, shuttles bring our guests "up the mountain."

More information about this event will be posted on our calendar in the upcoming days. Dyer Calendar

Bluebird On The Mountain
Thanks to Amy Kurland of Bluebird Cafe fame, we are producing a series of in-the-round style events that have been absolutely wonderful. The performers have included the top songwriters in Nashville. In 2005, we start our cooperative Bluebird concerts in May and continue monthly through October. Tickets for these concerts are sold through Ticketmaster. We encourage carloads of people to attend by purchasing a "carload ticket." Bring as many folks as you can fit. No RVs please.
